Becoming a Work-at-home Mom

From A Corporate Junkie To A Work-At-Home Momma

You probably have heard about motherhood stories where momma quits work and leaves her career to be able to take care of the family even better. Or because they are having a hard time finding a decent and kind house helper. Or just because, mothering is more fulfilling and worth spending time for.

My story is actually one of those, especially the third point! Motherhood is probably my greatest calling. πŸ˜‰

work-at-home-mom

I am called to be a mother.

On the yaya-less part, yes. Somehow. As I have always been exhausted by the time I got pregnant. I cannot remember the last time I had a nice, comfortable sleep. Though I really don’t intend on getting a house helper in the first place (because of some traumatic experience I’ve had when I was still a child), still I did quit my corporate job just last May 2016. It was indeed, a leap of faith. The Lord knows how I fought hard to be in the career path that I was taking, only to realize that it wasn’t what’s really meant for me.

Believe me, the decision-making process wasn’t just overnight! It was a veeeeeery long process of weighing down the things I need to consider before I quit my (somehow) stable corporate work. It was a risky move! It was a huge, drastic change in my life.

Initially, my plan was to find a work online so I could still earn and contribute to the family’s household expenses. Though I know that finding a virtual work wouldn’t be that easy, I also know that it is possible! πŸ™‚ I would admit that the first 2 weeks of being a SAHM was actually depressing. The anxiety, the worries of not being able to find a job is overwhelming. I even consulted other SAHMs (oh thank God for online support groups!) on how to cope with the mommy blues. Thank God (again!), I have managed it somehow.

Two weeks of building my portfolio, my resume’s blog and sending out applications in UpWork, onlinejobs.ph and other online jobs platform… Finally, I have landed my first work as a virtual professional! I am now officially a WAHM and a Mompreneur! Yay! And to tell you honestly, the pay is not as enticing as how much I was earning in the IT world before. But it is decent enough for our small family to be able to eat 3x a day, to pay the bills, the mortgage and save some little money for our investments.

Live simply. So you’ll be happy.

Yes, I left that high paying job to be able to embrace my family even more. To chase my dreams and to be a virtual professional. And it’s probably one of best decisions I’ve made in life by far. This is just the start. Surely, there will be hindrances and struggles along the way, but if I just keep the faith burning and maintain a positive mindset, I know I am on the right track.

The good Lord has been very kind to me for blessing me with an online opportunity to earn for my family. He has given me a jumpstart into building my virtual career. Thank You Lord! My family will forever be grateful! πŸ™‚

How about you, dear reader? Are you a work-at-home professional? I am still in the process of adjusting to this new lifestyle. What are the tips can you give to me?

And if you are still in the corporate but already thinking of working from home, what’s holding you from doing so?

I will write the things that pushed me through the decision of becoming a WAHM and Mompreneur in another post, soon! πŸ™‚

Live. Laugh. Love. Pray.
